Wardsville Barn Quilt Tourists

Mildred Kulich stopped at the home of Denise Corneil’s Sunday July 10, 2011 in search of a map and details of the Wardsville Barn Quilt Trail. Millie stated “my cousins Jean Dimmel and Pat Powell,( both of Oregon, USA) are here on a vacation and where insistent that I take them on the Wardsville’s Barn Quilt Tour. The ladies where having a great time and had found all the blocks but needed a map to take home with them to Oregon. Wardsville’s Barn Quilt Trail has been a great success having visitors from England and Holland earlier this year. The first Middlesex Doors Open program, September 17 and 18, will highlight Wardsville Barn Quilts. Watch for upcoming details.

Seeking Information

Ann Wilson and Marion Homer from the Harrow, Colchester area visited Wardsville this week. These gals are hot for barn quilts!

Establishing a Barn Quilt Trail along 50 highway through the blossoming wine district with Lake Erie in the background is a grand project for the citizens of this area.

Ann and Marion asked a lot of questions and went home envisioning how a Barn Quilt Trail will evolve in time for the War of 1812 commemorative events in 2012.

We wish them well and good luck!            Denise Corneil

Visitor to Wardsville

Dear Denise,

I live in London and travel #2 Highway regularly. When I noticed the increasing appearance of the quilt patterns on the barns, I decided to stop at one location to get some information. I inquired at Knapp’s farm equipment. They were very helpful by giving me your email and phone number. I’m wondering if you could send me something about your project; I know it is to do with your anniversary of the founding of Wardsville and the telling of Mr. Wards history in quilt art. I’m also interested in whether or not you have maps of the locations of this beautiful work.

Thanks for whatever you can offer.

Marian, London, ON.
